John Deere Discontinues the GS2 Liquid Rate Controller

Availability to order new units of the GreenStar™ Rate Controller (commonly known as GS2 Rate Controller) ended in August 2025

Dealers and customer were able to place orders for the final run of production of the GS2 Rate Controller that will be completed this fall. This brings the end of what I believe was the longest production run of a John Deere Precision Ag whole goods product in history. The GS2 Rate Controller was launched around 2007. Eighteen plus years of production and despite a few early issues, it is arguably the best and most reliable piece of precision Deere has made to date.

Used and New Open Box units of the GreenStar™ Rate Controller / GS2 Liquid Rate Controller may be available at BuySellGPS.com

The end of the GS2 Rate Controller proceeds the end of the John Deere Rate Controller 2000 production

The John Deere Rate Controller 2000 (aka JDRC 2000) was in partnership with Raven, which shared their common controller hardware and plastic housing, but had differences in software. JDRC 2000 Production ended shortly after CNH purchased Raven in 2021.

With both GS2 Rate Controller and JDRC 2000 no longer in production, owners of GS3 Displays (GS3 2630 and GS3 CommandCenter™) and GS2 2600 / 1800 displays will no longer have a new / current production John Deere option for Rate Control.

The GreenStar™ Rate Controller Dry is said to continue on at this time.

The new John Deere Rate Controller 3 seems to support only liquid products only as of writing of this post.
